Landing at Savoy is prohibited by municipal decree during the ski season.Â
Beyond the west/northwest summit ridge, overflight is prohibited at less than 300 m above ground, Aiguilles-Rouges nature reserve.
Find out about the possible municipal decrees issued when the Chamonix grounds are used for one-off events (display at professionals, at the start of the ski lifts, on the club's small shed at Le Bouchet and on the website).
Interesting site from 8 a.m. until early afternoon.
Very busy site in the morning, particularly with tandem flights. Tandem pilots usually meet customers at the bottom of the gondola on the hour (e.g. 9 a.m., 10 a.m., etc.) which means that the launch area is less busy between on the half hour and up to 10 minutes past the hour.Â
These times imply that the Savoy landing field, favored by two-seater flights, is particularly busy between 40 and 55 minutes past the hour.
To keep the take off effecinet, please prepare your wing and equipment at the rear of the takeoff before laying it out it on the takeoff spot.
To the southwest: cables of the Brévent cable car in front of the take-off exit, move well to the right to pass under the cables.
As soon as the conditions are thermal, good experience is necessary. Once the wind has developed at the southern takeoff, the corridor to the northeast of the Planpraz restaurant and the gondola becomes leeward and therefore turbulent. The same goes for the “ENSA” corridor under Brévent.
Be careful in west and north weather winds greater than 20 km/h at 2,000 m: you are flying downwind, turbulent conditions.
For cross-country departures to Flégère: horizontal cables connecting the cable car between the Brévent and Flégère stations in the Lachenal valley at an altitude of approximately 1,700 m.
For flights early in the morning or with north-east/east winds it is possible to take off from the north-east take-off, located to the east of Restaurant 2000m, approximately 100 meters to the north of the main take-off.
As soon as the wind begins to settle on the south takeoff it is better to change takeoffs because, despite occasional headwinds, the north takeoff and takeoff exit become increasingly leeward and turbulent. • This northeast takeoff becomes a ski slope in winter, so paragliders are prohibited in winter when we are allowed to take off in the valley in front of Restaurant 2000.
Speed riding or mini sailing is not authorized on this takeoff (northeast) in winter because you must pass as high as possible above the runway below the takeoff. Possibility of taking off on skis towards the north downstream of Brévent - see section [speed riding]
Beginner supervised cross country.
Bois du Bouchet - The landing is not visible from takeoff: remember to spot it before going up to fly
